I was browsing Amazon the other day and came across a brand new bento box cookbook called Kawaii Bento Boxes: Cute and Convenient Japanese Meals on the Go, by Joie Staff. The book includes recipes, basic nutrition and bento concepts, an overview of supplies, and instructions on making your food look kawaii.

I am a huge bento loon and I must say this is one of the BEST ebtno cookbooks out there. There aren’t too many that are in English so this is really a prize. You have no idea how many I have purchased In Japanese just for the great photos and then I try to figure out what everything is. This book is a gift in that sense!

I just bought this book so I could break my sister from her P&J habits and make her something cute and delicious!
I love it! The instructions are extremely easy to follow with lots of photos to accompany them. The book is well organized, and there are a ton of different recipes to follow.
I, myself, am a vegetarian, and it was easy to substitute foods when the recipes required meat-the book even includes how long it will take you to make your bento! My whole family loves it! I’d defiently give it a try if you’re thinking about making bento.

LOVE Bento Boxes… all though my son would never eat what is inside of those books… he is VERY picky. But the idea of reducing the plastic bags and the fact that it is like a homemade Lunchable is great. Such a neat idea and to think it took me so long to find it.
